It is still early for customers to give out their impressions of the Wii U on Launch day, but quite a few have already voiced their opinions.

Here are some responses to the Wii U's launch:

CEO Kaz Hirai: The Wii U has a Day 1 Firmware Update that takes ages to download. And people always say Sony are the ones stealing ideas from Nintendo...

Stephen Totilo: OK. This is dumb. I can't use the Pro controller for my Wii's Virtual Console games. The Wii U's Wii mode really blocks all the Wii Ustuff.

My Nintendo News: Some publications are stating that it took one hour and 45 minutes to download the Wii U system update. Crazy.

Patrick Klepak: The bummer part of Wii U's Sunday launch: my machine is just sitting in a UPS location somewhere for no good reason until tomorrow.

Christine Nicholson: After reading and watching some of the initial Wii U reviews I'm afraid I will not be buying just yet. Sorry ZombiU.

PJ Formerly Mike: Just purchased a Wii U.... Then remembered my siblings aren't appreciative nor deserving... Anyone want...

Peter Nowak: If you're getting the Wii U today, you'll need to do a system update. Better make other plans while it's going cuz it's sllloooowww

Brad Long: 5gb for day one Wii U update sucks. I only get 8gb limit per month, which resets on the 25th :(

Sean Aune: Score one for living in a rural area. 30 mile drive scored me two Wii U Deluxe units.

Peter Skerritt: Slower RAM for WiiU (17GB/s) than 360/PS3 (22.4GB/s)? Is that right? Fodder for the "It's not next gen" folks. Seems backwards.

Johnny Salas: 5 minutes till I gotta go to work. WiiU still updating. Looks like I won't be able to play. :/ Oh well. I only had Nintendo land anyways.

@TheyCallMeDSP : Just got home with my Wii U and about to film the unboxing. Picked up 6 games total, but gotta get on the 1 hour day 1 mandatory patch lol

Given the anticipation that this console has accumulated over the last few months, it was surprising to see that many Twitter users did not seem to express a great deal of excitement over the console and that some of the users reverted to complaining about certain tech aspects. The most preponderant complaint was the download for the systems' day one update. Apparently it lasts over an hour and a half, which means that users could not utilize the system right away.

The Wii U launches with 23 titles and so far reviews have been mixed with many critics content with the console's potential, but also stating that said potential is untapped.
