Great news for fans of Liga MX, Latinos Post will be scouring the web to bring you all the goals and actions from south of the border.

Jornada 5 was certainly full of the usual brand of Liga MX excitement with goals, red cards and free-flowing attacking soccer. Here's what happened:

Friday, Aug. 14

Santos Laguna 0-2 América

Champions Santos Laguna continued their poor start to the season with a 2-0 home defeat to Club América. The move proved to be the last for coach Pedro Caixinha, who handed in his resignation on Saturday. América have now achieved three straight wins and seem to have found their form, as they climbed to first place in the league.

Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz 2-2 Querétaro

Veracruz will be kicking themselves for allowing their two-goal lead over Querétaro slip, after the side missed out on all three points at the Estadio Luis "Pirata" de la Fuente. A frenetic first half saw all of the game's goals. Despite Veracruz coming down to ten men after Lopez left the field injured and Los Tiburones having used all three subs, Querétaro were unable to snatch the win, and both sides settled for the draw.

Saturday, Aug. 15

Atlas 2-1 Puebla

Puebla saw their unbeaten start to the Apertura ended by Atlas, as the home side overcame a number of pre-game injuries to key players to claim an unlikely victory. Atlas came out of the blocks strongly, and their first-half display was enough to see them gain the two-goal advantage that would prove decisive. Puebla rallied in the second half but despite pulling one goal back, they were unable to hang on to their unbeaten run.

Dorados de Sinaloa 1-4 Monterrey

Monterrey are beginning to look like a real force this season after their 4-0 midweek victory. The Rayados scored against a Dorados side that have now lost their last two matches. Monterrey dominated the match and led by the impressive Edwin Carona, they climbed to nine points with the win, despite having played a game less than the rest of the league.

Monarcas Morelia 3-4 León

The Morelia of the early weeks seems a long way away, as they slipped to their second straight defeat in the game on Saturday. Despite leading the game twice during the 90 minutes, Morelia were unable to stop their defense, conceding four times, and slipped down to seventh.

Pachuca 1-2 Pumas

Pachuca fans will be worrying after their team slipped to their first straight defeat with a timid performance against Pumas on Saturday. Pachuca were unable to establish themselves in the game -- although the scores were level and they had a man advantage, the Tuzos were unable to break through the Pumas' defense and were undone by an excellent Javier Cortes' free kick.

Tigres UANL 4-1 Chiapas Jaguar

Have Tigres turned a corner? That will be the question on all Tigres fans' minds after their side swept past Chiapas so impressively at El Volcán. Striker André-Pierre Gignac grabbed a hat trick, and the Monterrey side seemed to be finding the form that made them pre-season favorites. With the defeat, Jaguares remain winless away from home and stay on seven points.

Sunday, Aug. 16

Toluca 3-1 Guadalajara Chivas

Chivas' mini-recovery and two-game unbeaten run ended on Sunday by an impressive Toluca team, who continued to look strong in front of their home fans. Despite ending the match with nine players, the Diablos Rojos were always in control and ran out comfortable winners.
