New details for "Pacific Rim 2" have been unveiled and it seems that Guillermo Del Toro has teased some major character deaths for the sequel to Jaeger vs Kaiju movie.

It seems that the upcoming film, "Pacific Rim 2", will have a lot of character deaths as Del Toro has confirmed that half of cast of the first film would be killed off.

According to an interview by Slash Film, Del Toro has admitted to reporters that while some of cast of the first "Pacific Rim", he has written the second film in such a way that half of cast of the first film has been killed off or would be killed off.

"I think that everybody or most everybody that survived is back. The rest we killed. We killed half the cast," said Del Toro.

It has been speculated by Cinemablend that the characters that we may see in "Pacific Rim 2" are Raleigh Becket played by Charlie Hunnam, Mako Mori played by Rinko Kikuchi, Dr. Newton Geiszler played by Charlie Day and Gottlieb played by Burn Gorman.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Hunnam has revealed what he would like to see in "Pacific Rim 2".

Hunnam admitted that while he loved the first "Pacific Rim", he notes that there are some things that could be improved on the sequel as he says that Del Toro should not be afraid to put storytelling over the spectacle.

"I think world creation and monster creation and all of that stuff is exciting as a secondary element of storytelling," said Hunnam. "When it becomes more important than storytelling, I get very nervous, and you sort of lose me a little bit. Although we tried very hard on Pacific Rim to marry those two elements, I do feel like ultimately it got weighed heavier on the side of spectacle than storytelling."

Hunnam then noted that he hopes "Pacific Rim 2" would feature more character depth and that there should be more storytelling in the sequel.

"Not to say I wasn't proud of the film. I really liked it, and I felt like it delivered exactly what it was supposed to. But I do feel like we could have maybe plumbed the depths of the character and the storytelling a little bit more," said Hunnam.

"Pacific Rim 2" is set to start shooting this Fall 2015 and it is set to be released in theatres on 2017.
