Insiders claimed that Apple will soon feature its new generation of iPhone and iPad models on Sept. 9, 2015. The company’s annual autumn event also happened on Sept. 9 last year, so fans can expect the new devices to be introduced on the same date when the event happens again this year.

Wall Street Journal wrote that Apple ordered about 85 million to 90 million units of 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone models to be shipped on Dec. 31, 2015. A schematic also surfaced, hinting that the new smartphone will be 7.1mm thick — slightly thicker compared to the iPhone 6 which is 6.9mm. The iPhone 6S may also include a new NFC processor, which will be used to make contactless Apple Pay payments, adding to user security. The new device is expected to have enhanced battery life and performance, although the exterior might look very much the same as its predecessor.

The iPhone 6S will most likely have the same Force Touch that the Apple Watch has. Force Touch uses electrodes around the Retina display to distinguish between a light tap and a deep press. Users have to tap or press the screen harder to access menus and perform a variety of tasks. There will also be a range of colors available, including rose gold.

Mac Rumors wrote that the Sept. 9 event will most likely focus on the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. The two smartphones are rumored to have a Force Touch display, an enhanced camera system, a faster LTE chip and an A9 processor, among others. The internal memory may be improved and the better operating system might allow Siri voice control support. There may be new iPads showcased at the event, with the 12.9-inch iPad Pro possibly making a surprise revelation, based on a report by Buzz Feed.

Pre-orders for the new devices are rumored to start on September 11, 2015 and the products are expected to officially launch on September 18. This would mean that Apple is sticking to its usual release date cycle.

The new Apple TV unit might be presented at the event as well, featuring a redesigned interface, support for an App Store and a new remote significantly improved by a touchpad input. Source said that it will be a huge upgrade from its predecessor.

Trudy Miller, an Apple spokesperson, did not comment on the Apple autumn event. Fans will have to wait for official confirmation from the tech giant at a later date.
