A new Samsung device surfaced on the AnTuTu benchmarking site, and it is believed to be the upcoming Samsung Galaxy 7. The device set a new record with a high score of 95,972.

Wccftech reported that the unknown product had the model number SM-8508S. The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 reportedly scored 69,702 on AnTuTu, while the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is expected to be close to that number. It can mean that Samsung’s new device will be much more powerful.

Another leak also revealed that the Samsung Galaxy 7 may feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820. The company was reportedly testing the new SoC for its next flagship smartphone. There are rumors that the new chipset will not feature the Kryo cores but a quad-core CPU consisting of its own developed Hydra cores. These are the same cores that Qualcomm was aiming to use as server processors, which may also explain the very high score.

Sam Mobile said that there is a new report from Korea indicating that Samsung decided to change from its old “Waterfall” methodology to the “Agile” approach for the Galaxy S7. As a result, the developments process may be shortened by one to two months. The Waterfall methodology follows a very specific plan and does not allow backpedaling once a certain stage of the development process has been reached.

The Agile methodology refers to creating a project with a simple start and then improving it by splitting the development into modules that can be finished in a shorter period of time. The project will be tested and assessed whenever a module is completed. Aside from speed, the product can also be changed conveniently in the middle of the process because of modular development flexibility.

If Samsung indeed used the Agile methodology, the Samsung Galaxy S7 might be available as early as Dec. 2015. Previously, the flagship smartphone was set to launch early in 2016.

Tech Radar wrote about a number of features that are expected to come out of the Galaxy S7. The new smartphone might feature a curved screen and a 4K screen. The design might not change much from its predecessor. The handset will most likely come with Android M out of the box.

The recent news and details are still rumors in the meantime, so users should take all these with a grain of salt until an official announcement from Samsung comes in the next few months.
