Emmy-nominated "Game of Thrones" has just added another acclaimed thespian, 86-year-old Max von Sydow, to its star-studded force.

The two-time Oscar-nominated actor is no stranger to the fantasy genre, having starred in dozens of featured films, such as "The Minority Report" and "Conan The Barbarian." Von Sydow's most known movie is his title role in "The Exorcist," and fans of both "GOT" and the cult classic are already in suspense for his debut in season 6.

Entertainment Weekly reported on Aug. 4 that the Swedish star will be playing the re-casted role of the mysterious Three-Eyed Raven in the upcoming season.

Such character was previously played by Struan Rodger in two episodes of season 4, in which he was revealed in Bran Stark's dreams and visions as a guide.

Stark's storyline is set to forge forward with Von Sydow as his mentor for the ability of "warging" in the HBO series. The gift of "warging" in the series is the capability to manipulate the minds and bodies of creatures and humans, as well as transfer into the other entity's body.

Fans have seen "warging," also known as "skinchangers," before when Jon Snow "warged" into a ghost before meeting his impending death.

With von Sydow as the grand guide for Stark's ongoing quest, there is no telling what he may "warg" into or manipulate. His forthcoming appearance on season 6 is brief but pivotal, Variety reported. Although viewers may not see much of him, when he does appear, it is sure to be important and climactic for Bran Stark's plot.

Season 6 is currently flimed in Belfast, Northern Ireland and other locations throughout Europe. Michael Lombardo, HBO's president of programming, previously stated that the show would be ending after eight seasons but there seems to be some discrepancy.

Showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss previously stated to Deadline that the show would end consistently with those of the books by George R. R. Martin after season 7. Though, Lombardo also commented on the death of character Snow, saying: "He be dead. From everything I've seen, heard and read, Jon Snow is dead."

Despite contrasting statements of the ending and the death of Jon Snow, fans are still holding onto hope that the show will continue for many more seasons and the beloved character will return. His sightings were reported from Watchers On The Wall website, when photos emerged of actor Kit Harrington, who plays the role, was seen in the Belfast airport.

The suspense is heating up, and Max von Sydow is amongst the talented cast that fans are anxiously awaiting to continue the unfolding saga of "Game of Thrones."
