Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale Cross Play Download Explained; 'Ape Escape's" Spike Profile and Moveset

One of the major features of the upcoming Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale is Cross Play.

Any player who purchases a PS3 version of the title will automatically be able to download a digital version of the PS Vita game for no charge. On the Playstation Blog, Phil Lynch of Sony in Euro explain the process:

Players must insert their disc and follow on-screen instructions to purchase the PS Vita version from the Playstation Store. However, the purchase is tied to user's PS ID so they will only be able to share their copy of the title with others. Up to 4 Players will be able to battle in real time from both the PS Vita and Playstation 3 versions in an attempt to bring together Sony's current console and handheld.

Spike Profile:

Spike became a Sony mascot back in 1999 when he debuted on the original Ape Escape. In those games, Spike was set out to retrieve and capture monkeys utilizing a number of unique gadgets. He appeared in a three other Ape Escape titles, with the last game coming in 2007.

Square Attacks

(Regular) Double Stun Club Combo: 3 Hit sword combo with double stun club

(Forward) Double Stun Dash: Horizontal Dash Attack with Stun Club

(Up) Rising Double Stun Club Whirlwind: Rising Spinning Slash

(Down) Giant Stun Club Swing: Golf Swing Slash

(Air Regular) Aerial Double Stun Club Combo: 3 Hit sword combo with double stun club

(Air Forward) Aerial Double Stun Dash: Horizontal Dash Attack with Stun Club

(Air Up) Aerial Rising Double Stun Club Whirlwind: Rising Spinning Slash

Triangle Attacks

(Regular) RC Satellite Laser: Spike has control over the ground path of the RC Satellite Laser for limited time. It shoots a vertical rising beam.

(Forward) Bananarang: Throws Bananarang forward horizontally.

(Up) Slingback Shooter Shot: Fires a Pellet Shot from Slingback Shooter.

(Down) B-Launcher: Spike uses his B-Launcher tool to fire blue electric ball "grenade" that explodes on contact.

(Air Regular) Aerial RC Satellite Laser: Spike has control over the ground path of the RC Satellite Laser for limited time. It shoots a vertical rising beam.

(Air Forward) Aerial Bananrang: Throws Bananarang forward horizontally.

(Air Up) Aerial Slingback Shooter Shot: Fires a Pellet Shot from Slingback Shooter.

(Air Down) Aerial B-Launcher: Spike uses his B-Launcher tool to fire blue electric ball "grenade" that explodes on contact.

Circle Attacks

(Regular) Super Hoola-Hoop: Tapping causes the hoola-hoop to spin around once. Mashing the button will cause it to spin rapidly. After the mashing stops Spike will fly forward quickly, able to hit multiple times.

(Forward) Magic Punch: Spike uses his Boxing Glove gadget to deliver an extended, horizontal, Knock-Out Punch.

(Up) Teleport Boots: Can teleport left or right depending on the analog stick input.

(Down) Monkey Radar: 80 percent of the time, a monkey charges forward attacking with shoulder slam. 10 percent of the time a silly monkey throws a banana peel. The other 10 percent Pipotron G rushes forward and pulls off a brutal combo.

 (Super Level 1) Monkey Net: Spike can shoot the net out or swing it.

 (Super Level 2) Sword Frenzy: He charges up a heroic pose and then swings his sword to send a blast in a forward direction. Any opponent hit by it dies on the spot.

 (Super Level 3) Super Laser Cannon: He busts out his Super Laser Cannon which fires a beam all the way into space. It reflects back down and causes a huge blast that wipes out all opponents.
