After months of speculation over Moto X (2015), Motorola has finally revealed the latest iteration of its flagship smartphone - the Moto X Style, also known as the Moto X Pure.

"It looks a lot like last year's Moto X, but it comes with a bigger, higher resolution display and a new, 21-megapixel camera," The Verge noted. "It's going to be available this September for $399 unlocked. And this time around, it will work on any of the major carriers in the US."

"The Moto X Style will boast a 5.7-inch quad high-definition display as well as an improved 21 megapixel camera," Time observed. "The device also charges very quickly. In a pre-recorded demo, the phone gained about one-third of its charge back in 15 minutes."

"Like the previous Moto X, customization is also a key feature, with customers able to choose outer casings in a variety of colors and with materials such as metal, wood and leather," the news source added.

The Verge also noted that the Moto X Style will be known as Moto X Pure in the US because "because market research has told Motorola that US consumers care a ton about 'pure' Android - apparently more than they do about Style." However, the company said that the 2 models are really just the same unit.

The tech news site also observed that the new handset is "very fast."

"The screen is pushed about as far to the edge of the phone as it can be, minimizing the overall footprint of the phone itself. I'm still not convinced that I could use this phone comfortably in day to day use - my time with the similarly-sized Nexus 6 was fraught with drops and fumbles - but if you can live with a 5.5-inch phone, you can likely live with the 5.7-inch Moto X," said the review piece's author Dan Seifert.

The display is reportedly bright and has "great viewing angles," with no visible pixellation.

Motorola's decision to sell the new release direct to consumers is seen as an aggressive move that might just earn the company better revenues than its acclaimed second generation Moto X, which was released last year.

"We're confident that this is the new wave of the future," declared Motorola Design head Jim Wicks. "This strategy allows us to take out the middle man."

Motorola also introduced the Moto X Play, which has a 5.5-inch screen and lesser customization options. However, it has a longer battery life and will be cheaper than the high-end models sold by competitors. It will be launched in August in selected markets.
