The flip phone is back. On July 26, 2015, LG announced its new LG Gentle, which features a foldable design.

Huffington Post wrote that the LG Gentle is already available in South Korea, which appeared to be a fusion of the Samsung Galaxy and the old Motorola Razr. Flip phones are becoming increasingly popular in certain parts of Asia, which spurred the company to introduce the classic design. Based on the provided images, there may be at least two colors available – black and deep red.

Engadget reported that the LG Gentle features a 3.2-inc screen with a 480 x 320 resolution, a T9 keypad and 1GB of RAM. It also has a 3-megapixel rear camera. The device also has a faux-leather exterior and includes 4G LTE connectivity and 4GB of expandable internal memory. The product costs only $175. Although the specifications of the LG Gentle may be quite far from the various flagship smartphones available at present, it does make a good and reliable second phone. Some users still like the idea of flipping their phone open whenever they make or receive calls, although it can be challenging to write text messages via a T9 keypad as people did over a decade ago.

Huffington Post also stated that several businessmen actually prefer less powerful flip phones over highly advanced smartphones. First, these are less distracting because there are not a lot of features to occupy the user’s time. The LG Gentle is best used for calling and texting, and not for internet browsing. The LG Gentle operates on smartphone software. It comes with Android 5.1 pre-installed so users can accomplish a few more things than the standard flip phone of the past. The phone might not release in Western territories, but a number of carriers in the United States, such as Verizon, might provide a number of basic phones to suit the needs of most individuals.

Previously, Samsung and Nokia have also announced their intention to bring back the flip or foldable phone design. There were rumors that the upcoming Samsung S7 may feature a foldable design, with power-packed features to boot. Tech Times reported that Samsung might come up with a foldable phone later in 2015 or in 2016. So far, Samsung has unveiled the curved design in the Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy Round and Galaxy Note Edge. The company has been quiet about the development of a foldable design but fans remain optimistic that its future smartphones will include the unique feature.
