Gone are the days where comic book fans would have to gather in their local comic book shops and ponder if ever their favorite comic book characters could ever make a movie. With the recent surge of comic book movies, conversations which were only reserved for chat rooms or comic book stores in the past are now common place.

One such conversation may come to fruition as news has leaked that the two Marvel teams owned by 20th Century Fox, the X-Men and the Fantastic Four,  may have a crossover movie sometime in the near future. In an interview conducted by Yahoo, the director of the X-Men films "Days of Future Past" and "Apocalypse," Bryan Singer, has stated that their possible plans for the two teams to meet will turn into a movie soon.

However, it might be difficult for the two teams to meet story-wise because both are set in different times as the X-Men are set in the 1980's while the Fantastic Four are set in the present time. When asked about this time difference, Singer stated that there would have to be some time traveling done for the crossover to happen. It has been done in X-Men movies before, "Days of Future Past" being one of the prime examples of this.

According to Screen Crush, Singer believes that the two teams are a natural combination and would make for a good movie. When asked why the two super hero teams would mesh well together, Singer states that both teams are in ensemble films and there is a natural order to do those types of films.

Currently, 20th Century Fox has not released any news of a Fantastic Four/X-Men cross over films mainly because the new "Fantastic Four" reboot is yet to be released. The most likely possibility is that the studio is waiting on how the movie earns before making concrete decisions on follow up movies. The previous "Fantastic Four" movies, while star-studded, did not fare well in the box office and both movies were critically panned by movie critics and audiences alike.

Singer has already wrapped up filming "X-Men: Apocalypse" and is currently working on a pet project of his, "X-Men: Days of Future Past Rogue Cut." Singer intends to put back the scenes where Rogue, played by Anna Paquin, appears - the original scenes were cut last minute because the producers felt the movie had been running too long.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" is due out May 27, 2016 and the "Fantastic Four" reboot is due out Aug 7, 2015.
