Did Dolph Ziggler Finally Sign New WWE Contract?

Last time out, Dolph Ziggler and the WWE were still under negotiations as far as the “Showoff’s” contract is concerned but it seems that the latest news surrounding Nicholas Theodore Nemeth would seem to indicate that both camps have come to an agreement.

The last time we saw Ziggler was when he and Lana faced off against Rusev and Summer Rae last July 6, 2015 in a WWE Raw episode. If you missed that segment, you can view it below.

Everyone knows of course that Rusev gave Ziggler quite a beating and per storylines, Ziggler will be out of the WWE scene for the meantime as Rusev tries to work his way back into the main storylines.

While Rusev’s angle makes sense, that incident left many to ponder on what lies ahead for Ziggler. Will he be back or will he go?

According to a report from PW insider, it turns out that Ziggler may have re-signed after all and that his absence will not actually be because of the injury he sustained at the hands of the Bulgarian Brute but because he is set to appear in a new WWE film titled “6:42.”

A short synopsis of the film reveals that Ziggler will be taking on the role of a cop named Ray Fitzpatrick as he deals with a plot to blow up a child with a bomb strapped on his chest. While there is no mention of how long Ziggler will be busy with the said film, the Showoff could be back in the wrestling scene before WWE SummerSlam this August (23). Could it be against Rusev?

With that settled, it seems that Ziggler did get the push he was demanding for before his prior contract expired. It will be recalled that Ziggler wanted on and many had initially presumed that it was for a WWE title.

Ziggler had been a prominent figure in various title matches, the last of which was the WWE Intercontinental title. The last time Ziggler was in the limelight was when he was with Team Cena during WWE Survivor Series where he ended up saving the day for their team against the Authority.

There were rumors back then linking Ziggler to possibly jumping ship to Lucha Underground where he would rejoin good friend Mundo (John Morrison), another former WWE wrestler. Ziggler would have earned as much as $500,000 annually and presumably a big push had he moved there.

TNA Wrestling was also monitoring the situation though it seems that both groups may close the book on this with Ziggler and the WWE already agreeing on a new deal.
