There are rumors that the HTC Desire 728 will become available soon.

Chinese agency TENAA recently certified two new handsets, which will most likely launch in the United States soon. Phone Arena revealed that the two phones are the HTC Desire 728 and the Asus Zenfone Selfie.

The HTC Desire 728, codenamed HTC D728w, features a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 and a pixel density of 267ppi. The smartphone features an octa-core 1.3GHz CPU, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory, expandable via microSD card. The rear camera has 13 megapixels while the front shooter has 5 megapixels. The handset will also run on the Sense-d Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box and is powered by a 2,800mAh battery. The device measures 7.9mm thick and has a weight of 150 grams. It will be available in black, white grey, orange, gold and red colors, based on the same report by Phone Arena.

GSM Arena wrote that the full dimensions of the midrange phone will be 157.9 x 77.8 x 7.87mm. Android Authority stated that it will actually be the first time that the color orange will be included in the available tones for the Desire line, since HTC usually prefers to offer traditional colors like black, white, blue and red. GSM Dome wrote that the phone will feature dual SIM slots and 4G connectivity. Its thickness of 7.87mm is considered ultra-slim by HTC standards. There are also rumors that the product will come in two types, one with the Snapdragon chipset and another with a MediaTek chipset. The Desire 728 has a rectangular shape and rounded edges, which is typical for a new-generation HTC Desire phone. The main camera, however, is very close to the corner, which can make it easy to cover with one or two fingers when shooting.

There is a possibility that the device might not even be launched outside of Asia, since HTC seems to be satisfied with making several announcements but limiting the releases to other parts of the globe. Android Authority added that users should not expect much from the HTC Desire 728, considering that it belongs to the midrange line. However, those who are looking for a decent-looking handset with enough power to handle various activities, as well as take good quality images and videos, may find the product more than adequate. The price is yet to be announced, as well as the official release date.
