Despite taking a backseat to the national presidential elections on Tuesday, the relief efforts in New York and New Jersey continue to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy, which ravaged the East Coast last week. Volunteers throughout New York City, Brooklyn, Staten Island and New Jersey have spent countless hours making food deliveries to homebound seniors and cleaning up the most affected neighborhoods.

Latinos Post rounds up the latest volunteer and donations opportunities in the two states. As always, we encourage our readers to make monetary donations to the American Red Cross, which is helping victims of Hurricane Sandy. To do so, head over to redcross.org, call 1-800-733-2767, or text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.

The American Red Cross is also accepting blood donations. You can visit their website or call 1-800-RED CROSS to schedule a blood donation.
