Rumors are circulating that Jon Snow will be returning to “Game of Thrones” Season 6.
Previously, Kit Harington, who played Jon Snow in the series, told Entertainment Weekly in June 2015 that his character is truly dead and will not be returning in the following season.
“Quite honestly, I have never been told the future of things in this show, but this is the one time I have. They sat me down and said, “This is how it is.” If anything in the future is not like that, then I don’t know about it – it’s only in David and Dan and George’s heads. But I’ve been told I’m dead. I’m dead. I’m not coming back next season.”
However, fans were surprised to discover the 28-year-old actor at the Wimbledon championship still sporting his long curly locks. Many had renewed hope that they have not seen the last of the Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch, based on a report by USA Today.
In 2014, Harington shared that he is required to maintain the length of his hair as long as he is taking on the role of Snow. Although some people believe that the actor simply wishes to keep his long hairstyle even after being removed from the series, there are others who still remember when Harington mentioned that he is looking forward to cutting his hair if permitted.
On “Live with Kelly and Michael” in June 2014, the actor said about his hair, “It has its own contract definitely. I never thought I’d say that about my own hair. I’m just not allowed to cut it. And I didn’t realize this until recently. I wanted to cut it. I’ve had long hair for ages and they were like, ‘no, no, no, that won’t be happening.”
However, Harington also told Vulture that he would be willing to keep his hair long or grow it back if any role required it. Harington might be set to star in another film or show soon which can immediately eliminate rumors about his comeback to “Game of Thrones”.
Cinema Blend stated that “Game of Thrones” author George R.R. Martin has been quite elusive regarding the future of Jon Snow and whether he will return even after being stabbed several times in the final episode of Season 5. There are rumors that he might take on another form in the next season, probably becoming a white walker or dire wolf.
In the meantime, fans are only left with speculation until more details about “Game of Thrones” Season 6 are revealed.
