Contrary to previous rumors, sources indicated that the new Nexus 5 (2015) will not look like the LG G4.

Android Pit reported that two Nexus smartphones were announced to release in 2015. The first model will be made by LG, while the second version will be made by Huawei. Insiders said that the Nexus 5 to be manufactured by LG will not be similar to LG G4, in terms of internal specifications. LG and Google are expected to design the smartphone from scratch.

Previously, various Nexus smartphones were designed based on popular Android flagship models. For example, the Nexus One was inspired by the design of the HTC Desire, while the Galaxy Nexus was inspired by the design of the Galaxy S2, based on a report by Phone Arena. The Nexus 4 was influenced by the looks of the LG Optimus G while the Nexus 5 (2012) appeared much like the LG G2. Google and Motorola deviated from the practice with the design of the Nexus 6, by starting from the ground up.

Android Police revealed that the model to be made by LG, dubbed “Bullhead”, will feature a 5.2-inch display, a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor, and a 2700mAh battery. Huawei will reportedly make a more powerful Nexus 5 smartphone featuring a 5.7-inch screen, a Snapdragon 810 processor and a 3500mAh battery. The Huawei model is codenamed “Anger”, following the aquatic theme. Both models are expected to release in October 2015.

The new Nexus 5 will most likely launch with the final build of Android M in August 2015, based on a report by Tech Times. An insider stated that it is certain that the new Nexus smartphone and Android M will be launched jointly. There was no confirmation whether the Nexus 5 (2015) will be the standard bearer of the new Google mobile platform. The new version will possibly feature 3GB of RAM and avoid overheating problems experienced by its predecessor. It is also said to come in 64GB and 128GB internal memory variants. The device is said to feature a 16-megapixel rear shooter and a 5-megapixel wide-angle front camera. There are rumors that Google’s engineering team will incorporate resistant carbon fiber to enhance the strength of the body as well as a fingerprint sensor on the rear of the model. There may also be wireless charging, fast charging and USB Type-C support.

More news and details on the LG Nexus 5 (2015) will surface in the following weeks.
