The first add-on for “Batman: Arkham Knight” is set to be released on July 14, 2015.

IGN.com reported that the new story-driven DLC, called “Batgirl: A Matter of Family,” will only be available for season pass holders on July 14 without paying anything else. Other gamers can avail of the new add-on on July 21, 2015 for £6 in the United Kingdom. The game will also be released in the United States, playable on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

“Batgirl: A Matter of Family” is a prequel to “Batman: Arkham Asylum.” The story follows Barbara Gordon before she plays Oracle. The add-on was developed by Warner Bros. Games Montreal, the same team behind “Batman: Arkham Origins.” The “Batman: Arkham Knight” engine will be used. Rocksteady built the engine and will be leading the rest of the season pass DLC, based on a report by Games Radar. The season pass for “Batman: Arkham Knight” costs £32.99. More content for season holders are expected in the next six months which will include “The Season of Infamy,” “Gotham City Stories,” challenge maps, new legendary Batmobiles and character skins.

Gamers get to play Batgirl for the first time. The game is set at a new location, featuring various side quests, missions and secrets. The game also includes a new hacking approach that helps players solve puzzles. Dual Play functionality is also available with Robin, so players can execute dynamic take down moves.

Warner Bros. has not announced whether the game will be released on PC. Previously, there were various bugs discovered in the PC version of “Arkham Knight.” The publisher spent some time creating a patch in an attempt to fix the issues, but eventually decided to remove the title from Steam, Game Spot revealed.

Digital Trends stated that “Batman: Arkham Knight” is the end of the Arkham trilogy and has huge potential to become game of the year. Although Batgirl was never seen before in the trilogy, she is present under the name Oracle. She has a major part in helping Batman eliminate several enemies. Fans expect that the new DLC will be longer compared to the Harley Quinn and Red Hood missions that were offered as free bonuses and only took less than an hour to finish.

More news and details about “Batgirl: A Matter of Family,” as well as possible bug fixes for “Arkham Knight,” will be coming in the following days.
