Wednesday's match between Chelsea and Shakhtar Donetsk could be the most intriguing of the afternoon as the defending champions take on a rising team.

Chelsea has been in free fall over the last few weeks following a 2-1 loss to Donetsk. The defending champs followed that up with a loss to Manchester United and a draw to Swansea City. In between they managed a tight 5-4 win over Man City in the Capital One Cup.

This team has lost one of five matches at home and Juan Mata recently warned his teammates about treating this like a final setting an example with tremendous play in the UCL and premier league.

Chelsea desperately needs a win, because a draw or loss could potentially force them into third place if Juventus finally figures out a way to win against Nordsjaelland.

Meanwhile Donetsk can clinch a spot in the round of 16 with a win over Chelsea. They have been absolutely dominant in their domestic league with 14 wins in 14 matches. The most impressive statistic however is their 41 goals scored and six against in that span. This is a team on the rise and their confidence is at an all time high after defeating Chelsea at home. They will come into London on a mission to continue disrupting Chelsea's defense with facility.

Prediction: Chelsea will find a way. 2-1 win Chelsea.

Start Time: 2:45 p.m. EST
