A new smartphone has surfaced on an official Google website, and it is rumored to be the new Nexus 5 (2015) model.

Sven, a tipster, featured the smartphone on Android.com. Although the phone’s dimensions cannot be accurately measured based on the image, it appears to be wider than five inches at least, which could mean that the previously rumored 5-inch version is not real. The device appeared to have a slim matted design. The leak actually came too early, considering how users are expecting the Nexus 5 (2015) to be launched in October this year at the earliest, Android Pit reported.

Based on a report by Android Police, there will be two Nexus smartphones that will launch in 2015. The smaller version will be developed by LG, to be codenamed the LG Angler, which features a 5.2-inch display, a Snapdragon 808 processor and a 2,700mAh battery. The bigger version will reportedly be developed by Huawei, to be codenamed the Huawei Bullhead, which will come with a 5.7-inch screen, a Snapdragon 810 processor and a 3,500mAh battery. Nexus will apparently be maintaining its aquatic theme, since the Nexus 5 was codenamed Hammerhead, while the Nexus 6 was referred to as Shamu.

Geek Snack revealed that the new Nexus and Android M will certainly be launched jointly, although it was not confirmed whether the next version will actually be the Nexus 5 (2015). Although the specifications and design of the upcoming Nexus have not been fully revealed, users have realistic expectations. The company seems focused on meeting user demands instead of improving on less popular aspects while developing the Nexus 5 (2015). Insiders said that the new version will not be very appealing or visually attractive, but will be packed with powerful features that will satisfy users with particular demands. The display resolution will most likely remain at FHD 1080 x 1920, although there are rumors of a QHD panel upgrade. Other details about the upcoming devices have been well concealed by Google.

If Geek Snack insiders' reports are accurate, the Nexus 5 (2015) might launch by the end of the third quarter of 2015, or at the same time that the final Android M version becomes available. Some users believe that a fourth quarter release of both the Android M and Nexus 5 (2015) seems more feasible. The company has yet to confirm the details and leaked image on the official Google website. Fans will have to wait longer to determine whether Sven’s photo is the Angler or Bullhead.
