Spartak Moscow got off to a dreadful start in the UCL, but has a prime opportunity to finish a complete turnaround.

After a solid 3-2 loss to Barca in the opening match, they imploded at home against Celtic in a 3-2 loss that was of their own doing. They followed that up with a 2-1 win over Benfica. However, their victory was the result of an own goal and Moscow still has a long way to go in order to escape from Group G. They currently sit in 5th place in the Russian League with 25 points in 14 matches. Out of those matches, they have only played five at home and have won four of five. They have a potent scorer in Emenike who has already scored 2 goals in the three UCL matches.

Benfica is running out of chances to make a run in the UCL as a loss and a draw or loss to Barcelona would effectively eliminate them from further UCL competition. This squad has been surprisingly disappointing after a 0-0 draw with Celtic. They played well despite losing 2-0 to Barca, but the biggest disappointment was the 2-1 loss to Spartak Moscow where an own goal in the first half was their undoing.  They are currently tied for first place in the Portuguese league and have been equally strong at home and on the road.

Prediction: A 2-2 draw.
