Recently, we reported that a Sony device with model number E5663 has been rumored to be the upcoming Xperia Z4 Compact. The said unit's features was leaked on some sites, boasting specs that resemble that of the Xperia Z3 Compact, hence speculations that it could be the aforementioned device's successor.

Considering the mystery smartphone's similarity to the current model, it's believed that Sony will indeed release a Z4 Compact soon. With that, we've round up all the details we know so far about the upcoming product.

"Knowing Sony, we expect an incremental update over the Z3 Compact, keeping its distinctive 'rounded liquid reflection frame' - a special type of plastic with a translucent finish - paired with a set of bold color choices," Phone Arena noted. "Water and dust-proofing should be on board as well, and the general dimensions are probably going to stay the same."

It can be recalled that the Xperia Z3 Compact has a 4.6-inch display, a 720x1280 resolution, and measures 5.00 x 2.56 x 0.34 inches. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor under the hood and a 2600 mAh battery. It is waterproof up to 1.5 meters and can be submerged in water without endangering the device for about 30 minutes.

Further, rumors also have it that the new device will have better resolution at 1,080 x 1,920 pixels, according to GFXBench's leak. It will also reportedly come with an octa-core, 64-bit Mediatek MT6795 Cortex A53 processor that runs up to 1.9 GHz. It also has 2.5 GB of RAM and up to 16 GB of storage. Its rear camera is said to be capable of taking 20 MP photos, with the front-facing one able to deliver 12 MP selfies, making this a great option for those who love to take a lot of personal photos. The phone will run on Android 5.9 Lollipop.

However, Phone Arena opined that it's improbable for Sony to trick out a compact phone with these specs as it caters to "a specific market."

"We believe Sony will replace the MediaTek chip with a high-end Qualcomm SoC - the Snapdragon 808 or 810 - for an eventual global release," the site predicted.

Although there's no info about the Z4 Compact's battery, it's believed that it will be more or less similar to the Z3 Compact's 10-hour capacity.

Right now, Sony has not breathed a word about the upcoming smartphone's release or specs. Keep abreast of the latest updates about this device by checking back with us in the next couple of days.
