Heading into Bellator 138, an interesting match to look out for is the one between 51-year-old Ken Shamrock and Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson on June 19 in Bellator 138 at Scottrade Center in St. Louis.

Both heavyweights have not fought in the MMA since 2010 though Fergusson has been into several boxing matches. Fergusson is a -450 favorite to come out victorious according to lines drawn by MMAOddsBreaker.com

The upcoming match actually fulfills a previously botched meeting.

Back in 2008, Shamrock and Fergusson were supposed to face each other at an EliteXC card. However, the match was cancelled on the day of the match after Shamrock incurred an accidental cut in his locker room.

At 51, there will of course be apprehensions on what Shamrock can do. More so, there are some who are interested in the welfare of Shamrock as they know the risks and possibly injuries he could endure. And at his age, injuries could be devastating already.

Still and all, Shamrock doesn’t seem to care. The only thing important for the UFC Hall of Famer is he gets to do what he loves and enjoys it in the process.

He admits that there is really nothing to gain from his match with Fergusson aside from fulfilment. Apparently Shamrock has not grown tired of his MMA career, reminiscing and probably hoping he gets a triumphant return after being out for almost five years.

However, the odds seem to be stacked again Shamrock and Fergusson is the favorite to come out in their set match. Back in 2010 and had their original meeting taken place, Fergusson was also favoured (5-1) and now those odds seem to have skyrocketed.

Shamrock and Fergusson are not exactly fond of each other, a sidelight which may be the marketing angle for the said matchup. After a botched 2008 fight and their ages aside, this is a feud that many will surely be interested in.

Fergusson is younger and bigger but don’t expect Shamrock to give in to those disadvantages. Known to be a fighter, Shamrock is expected to go give Slice a good fight – something that the fans will likewise enjoy.

So how long would this match take? The length of the match could depend on the condition of both fighters. Their ploys and tactics are expected to play a role as well but in the end, it could boil down who executes their master plan.
