Wiz Khalifa Pleads Guilty to Possessing Pot Paraphernalia

Rapper Wiz Khalifa, real name Cameron Jibril Thomaz, has reduced his jail time after pleading guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia, Philly reports.

He was arrested last year at the El Paso International Airport after authoriries found drugs in his possessions. KVIA said the charge was decreased to a Class C misdemeanor and a $500 fine.

In May 24, 2014, Wiz Khalifa performed at El Paso's Neon Desert Music Festival. The next morning, he was found with 0.5 grams of marijuana as he passed through the El Paso International Airport's TSA checkpoint. He was arrested and taken to the airport's holding cell. This is when he took a selfie that caused an internal investigation in the area, said E! Online.

The rapper shared at the SoundSet Music Festival in Minnesota that one officer was pretty pissed with him taking a selfie. "Shout out to Officer. I shouldn't even said his name neither cause he don't want no one to know who he is. I just double you now. I was like, 'yo, can I get that phone, man? I really need to call my wife. I gotta tell her what happened.' And then he gave me the phone and I was like 'selfie!'" he said in the video.

In a May 2014 statement to ABC-7, the El Paso Police said, "Mr. Thomaz was placed under arrest after he was found to have a small amount of marijuana as he passed through a TSA Checkpoint at the airport. While in custody he asked to use his phone to call a relative. The handling officer allowed Mr. Thomaz to make that call and during that time he used that opportunity to take the pictures. To be clear, given the circumstances of this case it would not be uncommon to honor such a request"

Wiz Khalifa, who was born on September 8, 1987, released his first album in 2006 titled "Show and Prove." In 2007, Warner Bros Records signed him. His song "Say Yeah," charted on the Hot Rap Tracks and Rhythmic Top 40 in 2008.

He also had another release shortly after his arrest, titled "28 Grams". One of his latest works is the hit song "See You Again" that was played in the movie "Furious 7".
