The Samsung Galaxy S3 has been the Android phone of the year, with many customers eagerly snatching up the powerful handset. Some customers, however, have stated that the Galaxy S3's 4.8-inch display is a bit too large for their tastes, which is one reason Samsung has announced the Galaxy S3 Mini. With a smaller 4-inch screen, the Galaxy S3 Mini is now slated for a U.K. release date of November 8, next Thursday.

The Galaxy S3 Mini had been pegged for a launch time frame of early November, but it hasn't been until recently that Samsung has come out with an official release statement.

For those looking to pick up the Galaxy S3 Mini soon, Samsung has promised to include a couple goodies along with the phone, according to ZDNet. Purchasers will get the games The Sims 3 and Bejewelled 2 for free, along with 50GB free Dropbox storage for two years.

If you haven't already, you can order an unlocked Galaxy S3 Mini for £299.95 from Carphone Warehouse, or you can get one for free with monthly plans starting at £25 a month from Phones4U.

Despite the phone looking like an identical, miniature Galaxy S3, the Galaxy S3 Mini is actually quite a different beast. It is intended as a sleek, mid-range smartphone, with specs that are far lower than the high-end Galaxy S3

The Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini comes with a 4-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 800X480 and 233 pixels per inch (ppi). The smartphone has a 1GHz dual-core processor, a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a VGA front camera. Perhaps the only leg up the Galaxy S3 Mini has on the Galaxy S3 is that it will be running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box, while many Galaxy S3 owners around the world are still waiting for their Jelly Bean update.

There is no word on whether the Galaxy S3 Mini will make it to the United States, but the phone recently did receive its FCC certification, meaning that if the demand arises, Samsung should be able to meet it.
