The creators of US TV series, "The Vampire Diaries," revealed that the seventh season will be significant for the characters of Damon and Stefan Salvatore.

Since Nina Dobrev, one of the main casts of "The Vampire Diaries," made an exit from the series, the seventh season now relies to the remaining Mystic Falls team. Showrunners Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson revealed the future of what lies ahead for Damon and Stefan.

According to MTV News, now that Damon has more freedom since his girlfriend is locked in a coffin like sleeping beauty, the favorite vampire villain is going to be "wilding out" a little.

"He now has more freedom to kind of be messy with his choices. I think you'll see a darker Damon with the sort of wisdom of his experience, but a freedom to act out as he may feel like he needs to," Julie explained.

IB Times noted that since Elena is out of the picture, viewers might get to see the side of Damon that they might have missed over the past few seasons.

"What is the Season 1 version of Damon? The Season 1 version of Damon is the straight villain with what we learned was an obsession with a woman who just happened to look like our lead woman," Plec teased her audience. "He now has more freedom to kind of be messy with his choices. I think you'll see a darker Damon with the sort of wisdom of his experience, but a freedom to act out as he may feel like he needs to."

Williamson added that they will add a twist that will "complicate" the story but made sure that it will not be a repeat of Season 1. Having said that will this also mean that Stefan will be the "hero" once again?

Movie Pilot reported that for the next season of "Vampire Diaries," the audience will get to see a new Stefan. Executive producer of the show Caroline Dries hinted what the fans could expect from the other Salvatore brother. She noted that while Stefan has always been the hero for the most parts in "Vampire Diaries," he will be "more heroic" in the next season.

"I'm really excited to see Stefan come into his own and he'll really take to the role of a hero, which will be really cool. He's always been a hero but I think in a broader sense he'll become more heroic next season" Dries said.

Although there's no specific date that has been confirmed yet about the release of "Vampire Diaries" season 7, fans should expect their favorite TV series to be back sometime this fall.
