Argentine born Sergio Aguero was nominated among the top 23 a year ago for the Ballon D'Or and has once again proven that he is one of the top players in the world.

Aguero led club Manchester City in goals in the 2011-12 season with 23 goals and 8 assists. He scored the game winner in the 94th minute that secured City's premier league championship. Throughout the entire 2011-12 season he scored 35 goals and 9 assists including 4 goals in the Europa League.

Thus far in the 2012-13 season he has scored 2 goals in 6 matches for the Manchester City and has added 3 goals for Argentina in 3 games. Maradona's son-in-law's production is down, but it is due mainly to an injury he suffered in August which has lessened his starts this season.

Chances of Being a Top 3 Finalist: Aguero was likely never going to be a part of the top three finalists for the Ballon D'Or, but his form to start the 2012-13 season likely does not help matters. The fact that he did win a title with Manchester City in the Premier League certainly had a great deal to do with his being on this list.

Biggest Moment of the Year: Aguero scored the 94th minute goal that helped Manchester City secure the championship of the Premier League. During the final 8 games of that run he had 7 goals and 3 assists.
