There are talks that the Samsung Galaxy S6 Mini is going to be released soon.
GSM Arena wrote that the GFX Benchmark database reading revealed the specs and features of a device believed to be the Samsung Galaxy S6 Mini. Allegedly, the S6 Mini will have model number SM-G9198 and will feature a Snapdragon 808 chip, which has a hexa-core CPU (2x Cortex-A57 and 4x Cortex-A53) at 1.8GHz, a Qualcomm Adreno 418 GPU, a 4.6-inch HD display with a 1280 x 768 resolution, 2GB of RAM and 11GB of storage space. The S6 Mini will reportedly also have a 16-megapixel 16:9 rear camera with 1080p video and a 5-megapixel front camera. The smartphone will run on the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box.
The GFX Benchmark database also revealed the various features included in the phone, such as an accelerometer, barometer, Bluetooth, motion processor, compass, GPS, gyroscope, lightsensor, NFC, proximity, Wi-Fi and pedometer.
Android Pit mentioned that Samsung struggled initially with the Galaxy S3 Mini and S4 Mini, but was able to find the right mix with the Galaxy S5 Mini. The Galaxy S6 Mini is expected to be a solid midrange phone similar to its predecessor. The S6 Mini will most likely be priced similarly to the S5 Mini at $490. It has been Samsung's practice to release its Mini series about two months after the flagship launches, so the small version is expected to be announced in May and then come out in June or July 2015.
As for its appearance, the S6 Mini is expected to look just like the Galaxy S6, albeit smaller. It might feature more affordable materials, too, instead of the aluminum and glass used in the flagship model. The device might have a glass rear, although it is uncertain whether Gorilla Glass 4 will be used. There may also be a metal rim similar to the S5 Mini and S6. Android Pit also wrote that the HDR mode, touch focus and face detection features will be available on the S6 Mini camera. Manual shooting settings may also be included, together with Optical Image Stabilization.
Other special features that might come out in the S6 Mini are wireless charging, a heartbeat monitor, a fingerprint scanner and Turbo-charging. The size of the S6 Mini makes it ideal for working out so a heartbeat monitor would be a good inclusion. Samsung might decide to remove the fingerprint scanner and wireless charging, considering how these are mere fads for now.
