'Grey's Anatomy' Season 9 Previews, Spoilers for Episodes Five and Six: "Beautiful Disasters" and "Second Opinion"

Fans of 'Grey's Anatomy' favorite best friend duo Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Christina (Sandra OH) will no longer have to wait for the Mer-Christina-centric episode this season. On Thursday, the twosome will be the focus of the season's fifth episode, entitled "Beautiful Disaster."

The latest preview for the episode shows Meredith dealing with a particularly hard case involving a car crash victim that looks remarkably like little sister Lexie (Chyler Leigh), who died in the tragic plane crash last May. After spending months dealing with her husband Derek's (Patrick Dempsey) hand injury, it looks like Mer will finally have to come to terms with her sister's sudden death.

Over at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, Christina will be forced to work with fellow heart surgeon and Minnesota best friend, Dr. Thomas (William Daniels) on a complicated heart surgery. Despite the distance between Mer and Christina, the two will have to depend on each other to get through their difficult cases.

According to Examiner, Meredith will also find help in Bailey (Chandra Wilson), who will be assisting her in surgery, and Callie (Sara Ramirez), who will be taking care of baby Zola. The preview for the episode also shows Dr. Weber giving Meredith some tough love, saying that her emotions concerning her sister's death may be clouding her better judgment when dealing with her patient.

 Details have also emerged on season nine's sixth episode, entitled "Second Opinion." According to Gather Entertainment, the episode's official description teases, "As the doctors continue with their lawsuit, they're forced to confront the realities of their injuries. Meanwhile, Bailey tricks Arizona into helping her with a pediatric case, and Christina tries to find normalcy in her new environment."

It seems clear from the episode's description that Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) and Derek will play a big part in the episode. Afterall, Arizona has struggled to come to terms with the loss of her leg and Derek has yet to be able to perform a surgery successfully. However, their spouses and fellow plane passengers will also have a lot of emotional scarring to deal with.

'Grey's Anatomy' S9E5, "Beautiful Disaster" airs on Thursday, November 8 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
