Will the iPad Mini 4 be out by October this year? Talk has it that the current iPad Mini's successor may be revealed in the middle of this year, Christian Today noted.

"To date, there is no official word on the specs and possible release date of the iPad Mini 4," the site said. "In fact, some are even wondering on whether the iPad Mini 4 would be coming out at all."

"If ever it does come out, the belief is that the iPad Mini 4 may likely come out by October at the earliest. Whether this hope does materialize or not remains a big question though the real concern for many is how enticing the iPad Mini 4 will be," it added.

Some iPad Mini users may probably be praying for the early release of the said tablet, as the Mini 3 was roundly slammed as a disappointment for being thin on updates and big on hype.

Based on speculations making the rounds on the Internet, the Mini 4 will reportedly "be thinner than the iPad Mini 3 and boast of a 7.9-inch display."

"It will reportedly run on an A9 processor which curiously comes from rival Samsung and 2GB of RAM," Christian Today said. "The iPad Mini 4 is expected to run on the iOS 9 and feature a Touch ID sensor."

In April this year, a video of what has been alleged to be the rear casing of Apple's upcoming mini tablet surfaced. Based on its appearance, it looks as if it resembles iPad Air 2, as observed by Tech Times.

"The lock/mute switch has been replaced with a microphone hole and its speaker grill now has a single row of larger cutouts like the iPad Air 2 instead of the smaller double row of speakers holes found on the iPad mini 3," the site noted. "The aluminum case is also reportedly thinner than the current iPad mini 3."

"Rumors have suggested the iPad mini 4 will be thinner than the iPad mini 2 and the iPad mini 3, giving it a thickness more akin to the iPad Air 2, but it is difficult to determine the device's possible thickness based on the images," MacRumors affirmed.

Christian Today speculated that the 4th generation iPad Mini may be lower than the $399 price tag of the Mini 3.

"Considering how its predecessor performed, there are some who believe that lowered price with high specs could help Apple regain consumer trust," the site analyzed.

Tech Times also predicted a fall release for the tablet. Judging by the dismal reception of the iPad Mini 3, it's possible that its successor may arrive a bit earlier.
