It's been previously revealed that Claire Underwood will be leaving ambitious politico husband Frank Underwood. With such a significant turn of event on the hit Netflix show, fans are wondering what's next for Claire and Frank.

Talk has it that "the breakup shall be followed with a divorce before Claire would decide to run for the presidency opposite his former husband who shall be gunning for re-election," Master Herald said.

Albeit surprising, such a move may be understandable in the wake of the separation. Come to think of it, what other event could top the breakup of the formidable Underwoods? Such a plot remains well within the "House of Cards" tradition and signature, which is controversy and shameless ambition, and other not-so-savory things associated in such a cutthroat, political setting.

Of course, the angle mentioned remains an unconfirmed possibility as the showmakers are keeping their lips sealed on next season's major storylines. After all, the show won't be back until next year. Hints and leaks at this point in time will seem too early and ill-timed.

But speculations and predictions are not - do you agree?

Enstars wondered whether Claire would play the villain in Season 4, considering that her marriage to Frank would go down the drain. Showrunner Beau Willimon, in the wake of that eventuality, "realized that they have set things up to only worsen between the couple from here on out."

"A lot of the strength of the show is based on the strength of that marriage. But as soon as we began to explore that, we realized there was no turning back," he said, as quoted by The Hollywood Reporter. "We also realized we'd laid the groundwork in the previous two seasons for this conflict between Francis and Claire, and the more we began exploring it, the more inevitable it became. And the more exciting it was for us to travel that emotional terrain."

Frank won't be bereft of support, though. Doug will be back to help Frank out.

The 2016 launch of Season 4 of "House of Cards" is considered timely as the US presidential elections will also be happening next year - a clever strategy indeed. However, production for the show will be starting in the summer this year and be done before the year ends.

"Season 4 is expected to premiere on Netflix around February 2016," Master Herald said.

As expected, Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright will be back to reprise their roles as Frank and Claire Underwood, along with several cast members who appeared in the first 2 seasons of HOC.
