Sony Xperia Z users will soon get a taste of Android's 5.0.2 Lollipop update. According to Android Origin, it is likely that the 5.0.2 version of the Lollipop update would soon roll out to Sony's previous flagship devices Xperia Z3, Xperia Z2, and even to its other mid-range handsets.

While Sony and Android remain mum regarding the matter, the news outlet has uncovered a photo which may confirm the rumors and reports. On its report, it cited a photo which showed that a certain device with model number C6603 has already received the 5.0.2 Android version. Check out the evidence here.

"The original Xperia Z comes with the model number C6603 and if this screenshot is to be believed, that is exactly what we are looking at right here. The screenshot shows the traditional 3.4 version of the kernel(which should be expected), but with the build number of 10.6.A.0. The current version of Android running on the Xperia Z comes with the build number 10.5.1.A.0.292 so it seems likely that a newer one would take us up to 10.6," Android Origin's report said. However, it cautioned readers, arguing that these photos can be easily be edited.

Meanwhile, GSM Arena stressed that other handsets such as Z3 Compact, Z3 Tablet Compact, Z2, and Z2 Tablet would also be getting the newer Lollipop update. So what would the 5.0.2 update bring to the Sony devices?

"The update includes fixes to enable the easy movement of content from internal memory to external microSD card, as well as improved messaging functionality in Ultra stamina mode...In addition, it ensures that the LED light is lit across all sound modes, and the lock screen / notification bar doesn't indicate "no service" when the device has coverage. Finally, the update also brings back the "close-all-button" in the activity menu," GSM Arena noted.

Sony Philippines meanwhile announced via Twitter that the Lollipop update has started rolling out on its devices.

To users who gets the update notice at the notifications bar, don't forget to tap on it and follow all its instructions. The download then starts and installation soon follows. Those who can no longer wait can also check manually from time to time. Just go to Settings, then to About Phone, then to Software Updates, and then Check Now.
