A beloved animation movie will reportedly be turned into an all-new series and featured on Netflix soon.

The Verge reported that the franchise "How to Train Your Dragon" is bound to continue in a series on Netflix in summer. The new series by DreamWorks animation, dubbed "Dragons: Race to the Edge" will officially launch on the website on June 26.

The series is the latest in the "How to Train Your Dragon" franchise. Since its first film, the franchise has created a second film that won a Golden Globe award, a series on Cartoon Network, a live-action ice show, various video games and a series of short films.

The first movie, "How to Train Your Dragon", was released in 2010, while the sequel, "How to Train Your Dragon 2", was released in 2014. "How to Train Your Dragon 3" is set to launch in theatres in 2018, based on a report by Entertainment Weekly.

IMDB reported that the franchise focuses on the adventures of a young Viking, Hiccup, and his rare dragon, Toothless. "Dragons: Race to the Edge" will be a continuation of the adventures of Hiccup and his dragon-riding friends from Berk. In the new series, Hiccup and his group discover an ancient artifact called the "Dragon Eye", which will bring them to new territories and introduce them to new dragons and villains.

Collider reported that "Dragons: Race to the Edge" will be an all-new series. Netflix did not mention that the new series will be in any manner connected to the story of "Dragons: Riders of Berk" or "Dragons: Defenders of Berk", which were shown on Cartoon Network. There will be 13 episodes available on Netflix starting June 26. Collider also featured the first teaser trailer of "Dragons: Race to the Edge".

The trailer presented that the new show will be a Netflix original series. The clip lasted 39 seconds and showcased Hiccup on top of his dark dragon flying toward the grand island of Berk. Hiccup's friends and their unique dragons were also shown in the clip. In the teaser, Toothless fires through a mysterious device, which may be the "Dragon Eye". Netflix or DreamWorks may divulge more details about the story as the launch date draws closer.

Since its first release in 2010, "How to Train Your Dragon" has become widely accepted by kids and adults alike for its unique plot. The film is based on a series of children's books written by Cressida Cowell.
