Is Miley Cyrus working on a new album? Recent Instagram snaps showed the singer working on music, sparking speculations that the "Bangerz" artist is set to release new material someday soon.

Miley has not released new material since 2013's "Bangerz," which had her figuring in headlines with the controversial concerts and videos that accompanied the singles off the said album.

Recently, the 22-year-old posted what Perez Hilton described as "the perfect follow-up to 'We Can't Stop'" on Instagram, name-dropping former boyfriend and "Bangerz" co-collaborator Mike Will Made-It and Rae Sremmurd.

"We're not sure if that means Rae Sremmurd has anything to do with the track or if he was just in the studio to hear it," the celebrity blogger mused.

Previously, Miley teased that her next studio effort will be "a little psychedelic, but still in that pop world," according to an earlier piece by Perez Hilton.

She also said that her album may take five years to finish. "I'll just work on it until I'm done," she said last year.

Fans, for sure, will be hoping it will get done sooner.

Meanwhile, Entertainment Tonight recalled her as saying that, where new music is concerned, she is "trying to get this stuff out ASAP."

"I'm working on it!" she added. "I'm in the studio every day at my house."

That's as good as admitting that Miley is indeed working on her next album.

Further, the rumor mill has it that boyfriend Patrick Schwarzenegger may be distracting her from "getting back into the studio."

"She is recording, trying out new music but she doesn't anticipate to have a new album this year. She may drop a single here and there but she wants to have an album that surpasses 'Bangerz' and she knows that will take some time to achieve," a source told Hollywood Life last month. "It is a major process that she wants to end up being perfect!"

"[Miley's] last album was all about Liam and her new album is not going to really be about him. She got out all of her emotions with the previous album," the mole added.

Could this be why Patrick is nowhere to be found in her studio snaps? Arnold Schwarzenegger's son has been spotted partying at Coachella while Miley remained home presumably working on her music.

The couple recently hit a rough patch as Patrick was photographed getting handsy with a brunette during Spring Break in Cabo, MailOnline said.

"Miley turned her back on him at first following the embarrassing episode, but took him back after Patrick apologised," the publication added.
