Google's Nexus 7 tablet has been a huge hit for the company so far. Not only is it cheap, and incredibly mobile, the tablet has earned rave reviews from most outlets. It would be foolish for Google not to build on its tablet momentum, and reports are coming out that Google is hard at work with Samsung on a new, high-end 10-inch tablet that will take the Apple iPad head on.
This Nexus 10 has been given the codename of "Manta," and the tablet promises to be one of the highlights of Google's upcoming October 29 press conference.
As of now, here's what we know the Google Nexus 10 will be packing.
The tablet should be sporting a 10.1-inch display with a resolution of 2560X1600. This would give it a whopping 299 pixels per inch (ppi) - greater than even Apple's Retina display on the new iPad which has 264 ppi.
According to Samsung-centric website SamMobile, the tablet will be available in 16GB and 32GB models and be available in the color Charcoal Gray.
SamMobile also states they have only gotten a whiff of a Wi-Fi-only version, but that Samsung could be working on a 3G/LTE model as well.
An image on Picasa recently surfaced that hinted at a Google Nexus 10. EXIF data stated that the model was a "Nexus 10" with the camera simply listed as "Google." The resolution indicated that the Nexus 10 will probably come with a 5-megapixel camera.
The tablet will also reportedly run Android 4.2, which is set to make its debut at the October 29 event as well.
A 10-inch high-end Google tablet would certainly be a hit with consumers if the Nexus 7's success is any indication. A solid Android tablet might finally move consumers away from Apple's seductive iPad.
