Makers of a popular sunscreen brand is pulling more than 20 of its products from shelves, citing four incidents where people have caught on fire after using the product.
ABC News said Energizer Holdings is recalling 23 of its Banana Boat UltraMist sunscreen products because they have a potential risk of igniting on the skin if contact is made with fire before the lotion has completely dried.
The recall includes products like UltraMist Sport, UltraMist Ultra Defense, UltraMist Sport SPF 30 Family Size Continuous Spray and UltraMist Kids.
The company sent a press release out to all major news outlets. Fox 6 posted the release to its website.
"Consumer safety is the primary objective of Energizer and therefore it has voluntarily initiated this market withdrawal. As already described, Energizer believes it has identified the cause of this safety concern and expects to offer new Banana Boat continuous spray products shortly," the report read.
"Consistent with existing warnings on all continuous spray suncare products, consumers should take care to avoid sources of ignition when using these products, should not smoke while using these products, and should not use these products in the presence of a flame or spark."
Energizer said they are in the process of telling retailers to stop selling the products.
Consumers who have purchased any of the above listed products are advised not to use them.
