Germanwings Co-Pilot's Girlfriend Pregnant? Ex-GF Reveals His 'Dark Side'

Days after the tragic Germanwings crash, new updates involving the plane's co-pilot, Andreas Lubitz, continue to unfold and apparently take on an even more controversial, albeit revealing, quality.

The latest reports revealed that Lubitz, who was found to have deliberately caused the crash after locking the captain out of the ill-fated plane's cockpit, was expecting a child with his then-girlfriend, a schoolteacher.

"Reports in the German press suggest that Lubitz's unnamed partner had become pregnant by him in recent months," The Telegraph said. "The woman had broken the news to her students within the past few weeks."

The publication also said that she went to the crash site south of France when it was learned that the co-pilot was suspected of initiating the tragedy.

"Lubitz lived with his girlfriend in a flat in one of Dusseldorf's most prestigious suburbs," The Telegraph went on to say. "Their art deco-style flat is roughly 20 minutes by road from both the city's international airport and the Krefeld school where Lubitz's girlfriend is thought to have taught."

Meanwhile, the New York Post had named the said girlfriend as 26-year-old Kathrin Goldbach. She was said to have informed Lubitz of her pregnancy around two weeks before the March 24 crash.

However, she also decided to break up with the deceased the day before the crash and told him she was moving out. It was said that his insecurity and "controlling personality" was the last straw for the schoolteacher.

"He tried to order her what to wear, what men she could speak to, even the length of her skirt," a friend revealed. "He was a control freak of the highest order."

"She said he was very kind and attentive but that he had problems with mood swings," the source said further. "And I think we sensed that she became more fearful over time."

Lubitz then went on to buy two Audi cars in an attempt to keep the lady. One of the vehicles arrived at his residence 5 days before the headline-grabbing incident.

The pregnant girlfriend reportedly went out of the country in the wake of the crash. Investigators have since factored in the relationship angle as a cause of his breakdown.

Further, an ex-girlfriend of the troubled co-pilot had revealed that the 27-year-old told her he would do something significant someday so "everyone will know my name."

"I didn't know what he meant by that at the time, but now it's obvious," said the ex-girlfriend, who worked as a flight attendant, as noted by CBS News.

"He would suddenly freak out in conversations and yell at me," she revealed further. "At night he would wake up screaming 'we are crashing' because he had nightmares. He could be good at hiding what was really going on inside him."
