Lovers of all things crimson will find the red leather option on Moto Maker a delectable option. Now, you can match your scarlet accessories or add fire to your style with the new upgrade.

"The upgrade is the same $25 charge (in the US) as the other leather and wood options, and engraving is still available," Android Police noted. "Red leather is available on all unlocked models and carrier-discounted phones from AT&T and Verizon."

It should be mentioned that this is a rather luxe upgrade, as it is made with real leather. This means that you'll need to be a bit more careful handling your red Horween leather Moto X as this material is not as durable as plastic or metal. It may also absorb oils and other substances, which will give it a certain look over time - something that will appeal to fans of the vintage look.

If you can hold out a bit longer, you'll want to consider holding your breath (and wallet) until this year's edition of the Moto X arrives. Although no release date has been confirmed, it's believed that the next iteration may be unveiled in August or September this year, as those are the months that previous Motorola handsets were announced.

This release date speculation was fueled by Motorola chief Rick Osterloh's confirmation that the tech firm aims to "stay on a roughly annual cycle for all of our products, including Moto X," as noted by Ecumenical News.

Right now, the current Moto X, now on its second generation, is half a year old, with its successor expected to arrive anytime soon (read: this year).

"There are no details available about the internal hardware and specifications of the third generation Moto X. However, Motorola and Qualcomm had recently confirmed that a new Moto flagship smartphone powered by a Snapdragon 810 processor would be introduced this year, which suggests that the third generation Moto X could use the Snapdragon 810 SoC," the site said.

Meanwhile, rumor has it that the company's upcoming flagship smartphone may be "smarter than any other smartphones," BGR said. Although no further details have been leaked that would support that hint, the comment has got some Motorola fans anticipating the 2015 model eagerly.

Once an ailing brand, Motorola has considerably turned around after Lenovo's acquisition. It has since managed to sell 10 million units in the third quarter of 2014, which is reportedly a "new company sales record," The Verge said.

"The acquisition has been beneficial for Lenovo - the company's revenue increased 31 percent during the third quarter, rising to $14.1 billion. Lenovo said it was able to beat investor expectations off the back of smartphone sales, which more than doubled," the tech news source explained. "But while Motorola's sales figures mark a company record and help Lenovo boost its cash flow, the smartphone maker's sales are still dwarfed by competitors Apple and Samsung."

Looks like they're moving forward and inching their way up, though.
