‘Beauty and the Beast’ Movie 2015 Cast: Luke Evans to Play Gaston?

Luke Evans is reported to fill in the role of Gaston for the upcoming live-action, "Beauty and the Beast," AV Club reports.

Another classic Disney film will be brought to life and this time, they are casting the most interesting people in Hollywood. First off, they got "Harry Potter's" Hermione, Emma Watson, to play as Belle.

And now, Gaston, the antagonist of the story, is said to be placed on Evan's hands. However, Variety reports that they are still undergoing negotiations for the role. An insider told TheWrap that the negotiations are nearing to its close.

The 35-year-old veteran actor has been part of high-profile movies including "Robin Hood," "Dracula Untold," "Three Musketeers," "Fast & Furious" and "The Hobbit. In terms of musical background, he has starred in various U.K. productions like "Avenue Q," "Rent" and the popular "Miss Saigon," according to E! Online.

With this news, Evans somehow shared a leak to the fans by tweeting Variety's article. E! Online says the actor added, "Time to start some singing lessons."

On other casting news for "Beauty and the Beast", Hollywood Reporter exclusively shared that the male lead role, Beast, will be played by Dan Stevens.

Stevens started in "Downton Abbey," then moved to a film project called "The Guest." He trained in acting at the National Youth Theater of Great Britain. The actor is an undergraduate of English Literature at Emmanuel College in Cambridge.

It was previously speculated that Ryan Gosling will fill in the lead actor role. According to reports, Gosling was offered the part, but the characters is said to be different from the other roles he has portrayed in the past.

Gosling was considered to fill the part because of the dark roles he played, as well as singing and dancing backgrounds. He was one of the casts for "Mickey Mouse Club" and released a solo recording back in 2007 called "Put Me in the Car." Unfortunately, this role was passed on to Stevens.

So far, as Hollywood Reporter noted, the film is turning out to be an "all-British cast" with Bill Condon directing the film. Todd Liebermand and David Hoberman will be the producers.

"Beauty and the Beast" is just one of Disney's many projects of bringing childhood classics to live film. They have already created "Cindrella" which is set to hit theaters on Mar. 13.

In 2014, Disney premiered "Maleficent," a different take on "Sleeping Beauty." The film, starring Angelina Jolie, made $758.4 million in the box office worldwide.
