Rapper 50 Cent and boxer Floyd Mayweather may no longer be friends, but 50 is still siding with Money to win the mega-bout on May 2.
50 Cent and Tony Yayo appeared on "The Breakfast Club" on Power 105.1 in New York, where the American rapper said that he believes that Floyd will easily win the boxing match, based on a report by Bleacher Report.
A video of the interview was shown on TMZ with 50 Cent saying that he bets $1.6 million that Mayweather will "smoke" Manny Pacquiao.
50 Cent's bet came after he promised to donate $750,000 to a charity if Mayweather can read a page off a "Harry Potter" book and saying that Floyd was "scared to death" of Pacquiao.
Charlamagne Tha God asked 50 Cent about his thoughts on the big fight.
The rapper replied, "Champ 'gon smoke em ... it's gonna look like [the fight] was pumped up for no reason."
The host asked him, "You gonna bet?"
50 Cent nodded and smiled, saying, "Probably like $1.6."
When asked why he was betting such a huge amount, the rapper said that Mayweather is "super focused right now" and that it would be impossible for him to lose at this point. 50 Cent shared that he finally talked to Mayweather at the Chris Brown concert at Barclays in February, after months of exchanging verbal jabs on social media.
Bleacher Report also showed a video of the interview where 50 Cent said that he does not need to be anything to Mayweather at the moment especially that the big fight is coming soon, but it was a huge relief to finally get to speak to the boxer face-to-face. He did not confirm whether they are back to being the good friends they once were but revealed that they are making small steps towards fixing the relationship. He referred to Floyd as his "little brother" and that even though he is trying his hand in the boxing business, he was not going to make money off Mayweather.
Mayweather and 50 Cent were business partners before but went their separate ways after the rapper started his own promotional company. 50 Cent did not reveal whether he bought ringside tickets for the May 2 match.
Sports Illustrated reported that after the big fight was confirmed, the betting opened with Mayweather being the favorite. The undefeated American was listed at -295 against Pacquiao's +230. At present, Sportsbook listed Mayweather at -200 and Pacquiao at +165.
