Surprise! Motorola just released not one but two models of the second generation Moto E Wednesday.

"Starting today, Motorola's selling two new Moto E models running Android 5.0.2 'Lollipop' - one with 3G $119 and one with 4G/LTE for $149 - in over 40 countries," Mashable reported.

Considering these new iterations sport a bigger screen (4.5 inches), the devices are a bit thicker and heavier. However, while the resolution is still at 960 x 540, the pixel density has gone down to 245 PPI from 256.

The reviewers at Mashable said that they "found the screen to be dim and fuzzy." "Compared with a first-gen Moto E, the new model appears to have a yellower (warmer) screen," the tech news source added.

According to The Guardian, the budget smartphone "will last a full day's mixed use on a single charge and includes features such as a scratch-resistant face and a water-resistant coating often found on smartphones costing twice the price."

While the 2015 Moto E shares many similarities with its predecessor, there are a couple of differences that distinguish this new model. For one, in lieu of swappable back covers, the new Moto E has a removable border, which "peels off to expose the SIM and microSD card slots," according to Ars Technica. This is a welcome change, as the device's battery can't be replaced, anyway. The borders or bands are available in six colors.

Another improvement is the phone's internal storage, which has been bumped up to 8GB from a measly 4GB. Plus, there's a microSD card slot that can support up to 32GB of memory.

"The rear camera is still the same 5-megapixel shooter, but it now has autofocus," Mashable observed. "The front of the phone gained a VGA-resolution camera; it's nothing special, but I suppose having a front camera for grainy selfies is still better than having no front camera at all I suppose having a front camera for grainy selfies is still better than having no front camera at all.

The new Moto E's engine is faster too. "The 3G Moto E has a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor and the 4G/LTE model has a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410," Mashable said.

Considering the improvements and the budget-friendly price, it looks like this model gives you a big bang for your buck, which is in line with Motorola's aim to give people "the power to choose," as stated in their statement announcing the release of the smartphone.

"A great smartphone should be a choice for everyone," the Lenovo-owned firm said. "So we saw an opportunity to make a great, affordable device for people who don't want spend a lot money."
