The CONMEBOL enters Day 8 of World Cup Qualifications for the first time since September in what is the last round of qualification games for 2013. The top four in the list are Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, and Uruguay. Chile sits in fifth while Venezuela breathes down its neck. Peru, Bolivia, and Paraguay are starting to fall behind as time runs out.

Bolivia vs. Peru 4PM ET

Two of the worst teams in the CONMEBOL face off in a match that could sink one team and propel the other forward. Before the September matches, Peru was the worst team in the CONMEBOL. But a win over Venezuela and a draw with a deadly Argentina will certainly help its chances to trek up the list.

Farfan was the hero with two goals against Venezuela while Zambrano scored the first goal against Argentina in a 1-1 draw.

This game is huge for Peru as a win would give them 10 points and put them within range of the top six teams. What makes it all the more interesting is that they take on Paraguay on Tuesday and a win would surely put them back in World Cup contention with eight game days to go. Paraguay is currently the worst team in the CONMEBOL and a win from Peru against Bolivia (which would give them a three game unbeaten streak) would give them the swagger and confidence to defeat a broken Paraguay squad.

Bolivia cannot afford a loss if they want to keep their qualification hopes alive. With just four points in seven games, time is starting to run out. If they lose then they will have to play against an Uruguay squad that will likely be frustrated and hungry for a win if they lose to Argentina on Friday.

Prediction: A Peruvian win would be expected, but somehow I think a 0-0 draw is more likely.
