Citing sources from Upleaks, Android Origin has reported that HTC is set to release its own branded tablet this year. This was the same source who leaked the details about other upcoming HTC products like HTC One M9, HTC One M9 Plus, HTC Petra, and HTC Desire A55.

On February 8, Upleaks announced on Twitter, "The 1st HTC branded Tablet will be based on the Nexus 9,dimension is almost same。but spec...And you won't see it in Q1 2015."

The tweet from Upleaks hints or suggests that the earliest possible launch date for the new tablet would have to be in the second quarter of the year. This new tablet therefore would probably not show up during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain in March. The many rumors about the new HTC products could suggest that the Taiwanese tech company has indeed a lot of plans this year and that it is doing its best to be on top of the competition.

Even Better Than Nexus 9?

HTC is not known for making tablets and this new rumor definitely suggests that it is now ready to enter the tablet competition to which Apple and Samsung have dominated for years. Android Origin says we should expect a lot from this new tablet and we should eye a more powerful and even beter tablet than the Nexus 9. The news outlet also stressed that fans should be excited about the new tablet's camera as it is expected to be really powerful.

However, if we are to consider the rumor that it would probably be like the Nexus 9, then we should go over the specs and features of the Nexus 9 tablet. Nexus 9 has an 8.9-inch screen display with a 4:3 aspect ratio and uses a Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Its size is at 153.68mm x 228.25mm x 7.95mm. It weighs over 400 grams, 425 grams for the Wi-Fi version and 436 grams for the LTE version to be exact. It is packed with a 64-bit NVIDIA Tegra K1 Dual Denver processor.

The Nexus 9 has 2 GB of RAM and is available on 16GB and 32 GB variants. It has an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with auto-focus and LED flash and a 1.6 megapixel front camera. It also has a dual front-facing speakers with HTC and dual microphones. It also has been updated with the newest Android update, Android 5.0 Lollipop, for its operating system. It also has a great 6700 mAh battery which could last for over 9 hours. It also has GPS, Gyroscope, Accelerometer, and Magnetometer.

These rumors on HTC releasing tablets are not new, says Android Headlines, as the company already revealed last year that it is indeed gonna release a tablet. Android Headlines said that if the rumors about the device looking just like the Nexus 9 are true, then we could expect a Nexus 9-looking HTC tablet with an upgraded hardware specs. It noted that HTC might replace the Nvidia K1-64 processor with another chipset from Nvidia or maybe use Qualcomm Snapdragon or maybe MediaTek processors. The report also believes it would come out with HTC's very own Sense UI.

Keeping their fingers crossed in terms of the specs of the new alleged HTC tablet, Phones Review hopes that the new HTC tablet would be better than the HTC Flyer and the HTC Jetstream which both received unfavorable response.
