As the media prepares for what is surely a Galaxy S3 Mini unveiling on October 11, reports have been trickling out giving us some idea of what to expect. The latest comes courtesy of BlogofMobile, which points to a DLNA certification revealing some Galaxy S3 Mini specs.
The DLNA certification is for a Samsung model GT-I8190, the same model that was spotted in a User Agent Profile (UAP) on Samsung Mobile's WAP site, which is the model thought to be the Galaxy S3 Mini.
According to the report, the GT-I8190 passed certification on October 4, 2012. The specs reveal that the Galaxy S3 Mini will have a 4-inch display with a resolution of 480X800 pixels. The smartphone will also apparently come with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box and a 1GHz dual-core processor.
The DLNA certificate lists the GT-I8190 as being a Mobile Digital Media Player, a Mobile Digital Media Server, and a Mobile Digital Media Controller.
The DLNA specs match up with the specs from the UAP on Samsung Mobile's WAP site. The UAP, however, also showed that the Galaxy S3 Mini will come with a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and be available in the colors Ceramic White and Marble Blue.
While these specs show us what the Galaxy S3 Mini is capable, there is still no information on pricing or carriers in the United States. Samsung is trying to cover its bases against the iPhone 5 by recruiting five carriers instead of Apple's three for recent high-profile launches such as the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2. There's a good chance Samsung will try the same with the Galaxy S3 Mini, which is great news for T-Mobile and U.S. Cellular customers.
