Illumination Entertainment's upcoming animated, comedy film "Minions" is a few months away and to excite fans, they released a brand new trailer and also gave fans a sneak peek into the world-class supervillain Scarlet Overkill, USA Today reported.

"Minions" is the spinoff and prequel to the 2010 film "Despicable Me" and its sequel 2013's "Despicable Me 2." This time though, the story will focus on the yellow, pill-shaped Minions and their search for the biggest, baddest villain to serve in the groovy, late-1960s New York City.

First of all, in honor of Sunday's Super Bowl event, Illumination released a television spot featuring none other than the Minions. It lasts only around half a minute and doesn't really talk about the film itself, but it'll definitely entertain viewers who can watch the "Minions" as Super Bowl Super Fans, jumping up and down, screaming, eating candy and spilling drinks all over one another and at one point, removing their denim blue overalls and streaking like no one's business.

"Swing those pants, baby," as the trailer said.

Illumination also shared more tidbits about their upcoming film, deciding to introduce their new villain, Scarlet Overkill, according to Coming Soon.

Producer Chris Meledandri, who is also the head of the animation studio of Illumination, shared, "Scarlet Overkill has fantastic hair, wears great clothes and has a lethal uppercut. When we turn her loose on the world, she is going to come out standing on top."

"Scarlet is an unusual supervillain," said co-director Pierre Coffin. "She is a dangerously charming woman, which could not have been easy in the late 1960s."

In fact, Scarlet is so dangerous and villainous that her devoted husband and fellow villain Herb took her surname for his.

"Scarlet has all the gadgetry and accoutrements of villainy," Melendandri added. "But underneath there's a character you cannot help but fall in love with."

As for how the Minions are going to fare in the face of Scarlet's villainy, the official trailer released last year already teased about the origin story of the Minions. It showed how they evolved throughout the ages and kept seeking new masters, all of whom they accidentally ended up killing. Kevin, Bob and Stuart finally decided to venture forth and find the new villain that they and their people will be able to follow.

Enter Scarlet, who Coffin and Meledandri shared will be teaching the Minions about her high-flying lifestyle, her private jets, stolen goods, castle and dangerous weapons. However, it remains to be seen if Scarlet is going to end up different from the Minions' other masters and actually survive their well-meaning but often deadly attempts to serve her.

Bullock will be joined by Coffin, who voices the three Minions Kevin, Stuart and Bob and John Hamm, who voices Herb Overkill. Also joining in are Allison Janney, Michael Keaton and Steve Coogan.

"Minions" will hit theaters on July 10, 2015.
