The official release date of the new LG G Flex 2 has already been revealed. According to Android Origin, the new LG device, which it considers as the "first big smartphone to have been announced this year," will first be released in its home country South Korea this January 30.

Then, it will soon be released to other markets by February or in the months to come. Android Origin said the device will be available on three major Korean carriers and will be priced 800,000 won or $737. As for the US market, it is expected to be available on several carriers like AT&T, Sprint, and US Cellular and other retailers.

The new handset was unveiled during the Consumer Electronics Show 2015 this January. The International Business Times said the new LG G Flex 2 is certainly more compact and curvier than its predecessor LG G Flex. GSM Arena meanwhile says the device is "one of the most innovative products" showcased in the event this year.

Specs

GSM Arena says that the new device uses LG's very own P-OLED tech, which definitely improved and developed from the previous year. As for the size, the device's display measures 5.5 inches, slightly smaller than its predecessor's which measures 6 inches. Meanwhile, its screen resolution also saw a lot of improvement as it is now upgraded to a 1080p resolution from the previous one's measly 720p.

The new device also boasts of its new screen which is protected by a glass cover specifically developed by LG. This new glass cover is reportedly "20 percent more durable than the Gorilla Glass 3." Aside from that, the device's rear side has a "special self-healing coating" which can allow automatic fix of minor scratches in just about 10 seconds.

GSM Arena says that the measurements of the curves of the new device clearly serve its purpose. Note that the 700mm radius curve made on the screen will give its users an "immersive experience" and allow them to speak closer to the phone's microphone. The back curve which is 650 mm on the other hand makes it easier for owners to handle them and fit them in the pockets.

This device is the first smartphone to have the new Snapdragon 810 chipset. IBT says the chipset features a "64-bit octa-core processor that contains a Cortex A53 quad-core processor that produces a clocking speed of 1.5 GHz and another quad-core processor that clocks at 2 GHz." The device also has the powerful Adreno 430 graphics. As for storage, interested buyers can choose between a 16 GB variant and a 32 GB one. The 16 GB variant will be accompanied by a 2 GB RAM while the 32 GB one will get a larger 3 GB RAM. Also, the device has a microSD card slot.

Some improvements were also incorporated in the device's camera. The 13 megapixel main camera comes with features like laser autofocus and optical image stabilization. It also has a dual-LED flash. The front-facing camera on the other hand gets 2.1 megapixels. The new device is equipped with the recently released Android 5.0 Lollipop update. It is capable of 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, and has the Bluetooth 4.1. It also has a 3,000mAh battery, making it easier to charge. The LG G Flex2 will be available in the colors Platinum Silver and Flamenco Red.
