Although Big Sean's third studio effort won't be released until February 24 this year, he has revealed the artwork and title of his upcoming album as early as Sunday this week.
“The rapper took to Instagram on Sunday to announce the album title and unveil the album cover,” Billboard reported. “Sean also revealed collaborators on the album, including Drake, Jhené Aiko, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Travi$ Scott, E-40, DJ Mustard, DJ Khaled, Boi-1da, DJ Dahi and more.”
This release follows his hit 2013 record, “Hall of Fame,” which is “a No. 1 hit on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.” The cover art shows a black-as-ink background with lightning glimmering vaguely. Judging by the artists featured on the soon-to-be-released record, titled “Dark Sky Paradise,” it appears Big Sean may be thrice lucky come release day.
In a previous interview, the rapper had expressed his good fortune at being able to work with ace artists.
“I've been able to sit down with the geniuses over there, including Hov, and go through my music with him,” he was quoted as saying. “A rapper's dream [is] to be able to sit down and go through your music with one of the greatest rappers of all time.”
"And then on top of that, being signed to the greatest artists [West]. Working with Kanye is priceless, man; literally priceless. The gems that I get just make me a better person, and a better artist,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, The Huffington Post recalled that the new record is “darker” and “harder” than any other work he had done in the past.
“The sound of it is definitely better than the mixtapes but it’s more of that type of intensity, high-level raps, and just not giving a fuck and going in," he was quoted by the news outlet as saying.
Further, it was previously said that girlfriend Ariana Grande may be featured on the album. She has shown support for her man by putting up the album art on her own Instagram account, MTV observed. Other artists who have collaborated with Big Sean on the album have also done a similar thing.
Curious about what the record would sound like? Billboard said that the rapper had “previewed the album's Drake collaboration while in San Diego this past weekend.”
“Unfortunately Drake can't be heard in the snippets of the collaboration,” the music news site said in closing.
The album's first single, “I Don't F*** with You” (featuring E-40), had since been released September last year.
