Amidst the negative reception of Apple Maps and Wi-FI issues for the iPhone 5, the latest Apple device received some good reviews based on a chemical analysis test.

The test, organized by iFixit and HealthyStuff.org, compared 36 mobile phones, including the iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S3.

As Kyle from iFixit stated in the report, the electronics manufacturing requires "enormous amounts" of energy, materials, and toxic chemicals.

For the test, researchers broke apart the 36 devices, piece by piece and ranked them based on chemical composition of the pieces.

The rankings were based on a scale from 0 to 5, with five being the worst when it comes to chemicals, component (case, circuit board, screen, solder, etc.), and overall.

Some of the devices tested included the iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, Blackberry Bold 9000, Mortola Droid X, and iPhone 2G, to name a few.

The study mentioned, "As Apple is the biggest company in the world, we expect them to set the bar high when it comes to environmental responsibility-especially since they claim to make; the most environmentally responsible products in our industry.'"

And Apple, overall, might be succeeding in that mission.

The test categorized the results into three categories, "low concern," "medium concern," and "high concern."

For Apple, two of their smartphones were in the low concern category, with the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5, with a rating of 2.69 and 2.75, respectively.

The iPhone 4 was shy from making the low concern category with a rating of 2.95, landing in the medium concern. The iPhone 3G had a higher rating with 3.91.

The worst result from an Apple device also landed at the worst smartphone on the list of 36. With an overall rating of 5.00, the iPhone 2G received the worst marks and landed in the high concern category.

The Galaxy S3 earned a spot in the medium concern category, with an overall rating of 2.99. The Samsung Reclaim, Eternity, Intensity 2, Propel, and SCH-U410 all were placed in the medium concern.

Samsung's Captive and Evergreen performed better with 2.71 and 2.81, respectively, landing in the low concern category.

No Samsung devices were ranked in the high concern category.
