Sylvester Stallone played his cards out well in launching the movie franchise that is "The Expendables." The film series has notched millions at the box office and gave a fresh breath of life to the careers of a number of past action movie icons.

And now, with the franchise moving towards its fourth installment, it appears Sly needs to include new faces in the upcoming release. And who better to add to the cast but Asian action superstar Jackie Chan?

"We always wanted to work with Jackie, but due to a shortage of central roles, an arrangement could not be made," the "Rambo" star was quoted by Movie Pilot as saying. "However, in the upcoming installment, we will surely try to bring him on board."

"For 'The Expendables 4,' we are trying to reduce the number of stars and increase their individual screen time. Let's see how that goes!" he concluded.

The martial arts star had previously been approached for "Expendables 2," as well as the third iteration. However, he turned both offers down as he had wanted the movie to star just Sly and him.

"They already asked me to be in two and three, but I refused," he said, as noted by CinemaBlend. "Well, I didn't refuse, but I said, 'Sly, can't we just do you and me? Not just a bunch of people and me only coming out for five minutes.' Because then the audience is, 'Oh!' And then I'm gone."

Considering that Sly is thinking of reducing the cast in order to boost individual screen time, it appears he must have taken Jackie's suggestion to heart. Will this move be enough to convince the 60-year-old to say yes to Sly's proposal?

Perhaps - if the action movie icon is willing to let the "Chinese Zodiac" star headline the gig.

In another interview, Jackie pushed the envelope by saying that he'll appear in the movie if he gets a bigger part.

"I don't want to come out for five minutes, one fighting scene and gone," he told Yahoo! Movies. "They're all good fighters, but I believe I can run faster than [all of them]."

"He suggests instead that while not being the bad guy, he could fight the Expendables at the end and then help them do something," the entertainment news outlet added.

Are you taking notes, Sly?

Jackie is one of the very few action icons who have not yet appeared in any of the installments. Steven Seagal, who is another big star who hasn't been on "Expendables," had remained elusive as he reportedly does not like some of the people involved in the movie series.
