The thinnest Samsung smartphone to date is scheduled to be released next month, reports said.

Sam Mobile said that the new handset called Galaxy A7 will officially be out in Malaysia in the coming month. The announcement was made after the device's brothers Galaxy A3 and A5 were unveiled in India.

According to the US Finance Post, the device was already confirmed to hit markets as it has already been spotted during the announcement of the A3 and A5 in Malaysia recently. It noted that it was the first time the device was shown to public.

Thinnest Samsung phone

US Finance Post also affirmed rumors that the device is really Samsung's thinnest handset to date as it is only 6.3 mm thick, thinner than the A5 and A3. Note that the A5 and A3 measure 6.7 mm and 6.9 mm, respectively. Last year, Samsung launched the A5 and A3 as the slimmest Samsung devices. The two new devices are packed with 5MP front-facing camera, LTE Category 4 standard, Super AMOLED display, Adaptive Display technology, and Quad Core 1.2 GHz processor.

Despite A7's thin size, the device's screen size is larger than those of the A5 and A3. The phone will get a 5.5-inch display with an impressive 1920 x 1080p display. Just like any Samsung A phone, the new device will also get a metal body.

Specs

As for the specs, the device will get the new Snapdragon 615 CPU clocked at 1.5GHz as processor. However, Sam Mobile in another report, counters this saying that the device's processor will likely be an Exynos 5433 chipset, which can be found in the Galaxy Note 4. It noted that the Snapdragon 615 is not a high-end chipset.

Sam Mobile says the new device will get a 2 GB of RAM and a 16 GB internal storage. As for the camera, it is likely to get a 13 megapixel main camera an a 5-megapixel front camera. It will also get a 2,600mAh battery and the Android 4.4 KitKat as its OS. However, US Finance Post says it is likely that the device's OS would soon be upgraded to the newest Android 5.0 Lollipop update.

Thinnest but not the lightest

Sam Mobile says that the new device is not the lightest Samsung phone despite its thin design as it weighs 150 grams. Aside from the specs mentioned, the device will also get connectivity features such as LTE, VoLTE, DMB, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. Sam Mobile says the device will likely be priced at $420.

Samsung has yet to issue its official announcement regarding the matter. Aside from the A7, the South Korean giant is also eyeing the release of two new other devices -- E7 and E5.
