Many reports are saying that Samsung will soon release its new flagship device which might possibly be the Galaxy S6, the successor of the Galaxy S5. These rumors arose following Samsung's continued profit losses and setbacks.
Rumors from Yahoo Tech suggest that the new phone will be released in January but an International Business Times places the release date to February or March.
According to PC Advisor, the 5.5 inches device is expected to get a 1440×2560 pixels display, 20 megapixel main camera, and the new Android 5.0 Lollipop update as its operating system. It is also believed that the device will come in 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB models aside from the 3 GB RAM it is expected to get.
After these rumors about this new device have arisen, many designers have tried creating designs and concept images for it.
Dutch blog site Toptienmobiel put it on the next level, leaking an image of the alleged new Samsung Galaxy S6 phone. In the image, we see a person's hand holding the alleged Samsung Galaxy S6 phone. The device is color white and it has Samsung's name on it. It somehow looks like its predecessor. View the image here.
The leaked image also shows that the new device has a thin bezel with a large screen size. There are also metal edges on its sides. Christian Post says this "suggests that the smartphone has a very thin design."
Express meanwhile quoted the Dutch site Toptienmobiel which said, "A striking feature of the prototype is the thin left and right edges of the screen, and the displacement of the front-facing camera toward the center of the top," the site says. It added that the device's design is somewhat similar to those of Apple's iPhone 6.
A separate report from GSM Arena said that the prototype looks like the new iPhone 6 Plus due to the curved edges. It added that it is unsure if the metal edges mean that the phone's entire back is made up of metal.
GSM Arena, citing Nowhere Else, said that it believes that the alleged prototype is not real. "Update: It turns out that the purported photo you see above is not the real deal. The image was quickly debunked by the folks from NowhereElse," it noted.
CNET also doubts the authenticity of the image and instead urged users to just wait for Samsung's confirmation and official announcement. However, it noted that the device shown in the image is just a prototype which will never be released.
"[I]mages are published to the Web each day, and until a company confirms they're real, they should be taken with the proverbial grain of salt. It's possible that the smartphone is simply a prototype that will never launch," to quote them. It added, "Samsung has stayed tight-lipped on the matter and has not responded to a request for comment."
