A report is saying that Samsung's next flagship device, the Galaxy S6, might be unveiled next month.

In the December 16 report of Yahoo Tech, it cited South Korean site Chosun Biz which revealed the possibility that the device might be announced during the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show. It noted that the event is usually held in January. This time, it falls on January 6 to 9. The report also said that the rumored curved-screen Samsung Galaxy Edge version might also be unveiled during the event.

But an International Business Times report said that Samsung's new flagship device would probably be released by February or by March next year in another event -- Mobile World Congress which will be held in Barcelona, Spain.

GSM Arena notes that the Korean electronics giant is aiming to sell 45 million units of the new Samsung Galaxy S6. But Samsung has not yet confirmed any of these rumors.

"Project Zero"

The rumors about Samsung's new flagship device arose after it has been reported that the firm is embarking on a new project called "Project Zero." Sam Mobile said that the project is a first in the company as it has used single letters to name secret projects in the past. This new name -- "Project Zero", it said, indicates that Samsung is creating the new device from "scratch" and on "an entirely new vision."

5.5 inches

GSM Arena said the new phone will be 5.5 inches in size. It will get a 1440×2560 pixels display and the Exynos 7420 octa-core processor. These specs were also found in the leaked image from Chinese site CNMO.

Camera

As for the camera, it is seen to contain a 20-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. This was reported by PC Advisor. However, another Sam Mobile report said that Samsung may likely stick to the 16-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization. But it agreed with the 5-megapixel front camera.

Android 5.0 Lollipop update

PC Advisor added that Samsung's new flagship unit will likely get the new Android 5.0 Lollipop update as its operating system.

Storage

It also said that the phone might come in 32-, 64- and 128 GB models. It is also expected to get a 3 GB of RAM.

Price

Valuewalk estimates that the new device will be priced around $720.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge?

The device dubbed as "the next big thing" will allegedly be launched with a curved display variant which will be called Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, another exclusive report from Sam Mobile claimed.

These two rumored devices are just some of the new phones Samsung is allegedly pursuing after experiencing previous profit losses and setback. These alleged new phones are expected to put Samsung back on its track.

Samsung has not yet issued a statement or comment to confirm any of these rumors.
